Climate Anxiety
Climate / Eco Anxiety involves worry, fear, anger, depression, grief, or dread focused on climate change and its environmental impacts.

For example, Climate Anxiety may include worry about future environmental crises such as wildfires or species extinction. Perhaps it manifests as fear or anger related to a sense of powerlessness and the unknown consequences of climate change. Climate Anxiety may involve sadness or grief about the devastation that our earth and its inhabitants face now and will continue to endure in coming decades.

As we do with other kinds of anxiety and depression, when treating Climate Anxiety we explore cognitions, emotions and somatic reactions to increase self-awareness and identify healthy changes that will reduce symptoms.

Additionally, with Climate Anxiety we explore how our interactions with our ecosystem relate to our mental health. Treating Climate Anxiety is not just about reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, but also involves identifying personal changes that have the potential to benefit our ecosystems.

Knowing that the impacts of climate change will continue throughout our lifetime, it is likely that many of us will experience emotional distress at some point as we face the loss and hardship of the climate crisis. For this reason, Ehrhart Counselling seeks to provide support to individuals as they move beyond anxiety and dread to a place of acceptance and action.
